Each of our six weekly Lenten spiritual journey presentations will focus on Finding Hope in Challenging Times. We will explore the events of Lent, leading to the Passion and Easter, in the context of today – the feelings of polarization, distress, anxiety, fear, worry, loss, grief – with knowledge and experience of seeing through those conditions or feelings and moving forward – through mercy/forgiveness, dialogue/respect, courage, faith/surrender, and gratitude. We will experience Lent from the perspective that we know how the story turned out – for the better. It’s not just history – it’s how we can approach events and have hope in our world today, too.

Each week, a different retreat center will have its retreat leaders guide the presentation, reflection, prayer format, and opportunity for discussion. Each Thursday session will be one-hour in length, starting at 7:30 p.m. PST. You may register by clicking the button below and attend any or all of the sessions.

Week 6 Topic: Gratitude

Facilitated by Sue Ballotti & Valeria Chow

Bringing gratitude to the season of Lent challenges us in uncertain times. This final session looks at gratitude in a practical way, with video, poetry, prayer, and questions for reflection and discussion. Poet Maya Angelou wrote: “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.”

Hosted by Mary & Joseph Retreat Center

The program is offered without a fee, but we welcome at-will donations to offset the centers’ costs to create and present the program. For more information about the weekly sessions, visit the LARCC website by clicking here.
